Our school

Principal's welcome

Woodridge State School is a special kind of place where children, parents/carers and staff work together to support each other in learning and teaching. With between thirty (30) to forty (40) different cultures and students with special needs, our school has an inclusive approach which focuses on individual needs and learning styles which are catered for in whole class, shared small group and individual ways.

This school is proud of its history in supporting personalised learning and achievement of negotiated outcomes. Woodridge State School's 2009 Showcase State Award for Inclusive Education celebrated the sound foundation for personalised learning provided by the school's dedicated staff.

Woodridge State School, as a multicultural and diverse learning community, provides a quality education in a safe, supportive, challenging and meaningful environment which builds resilience and responsibility and develops skills of tolerance and respect for others.

An extension to the mission statement of the school is helping all students to be successful and to have social-emotional well-being. In addition to teaching students academic skills and knowledge in different subject and content areas, students are also taught the 5 foundations ('keys') for success and well-being - namely, confidence, persistence, organisation, getting along, and resilience.

Parents and care-givers are urged to communicate with staff in an open and positive way so that we can all work together to achieve improved learning outcomes for our children. We do not blame, we accept where the current level of achievement might be and work alongside students and parents/care-givers to progress and challenge learning in a happy and mutually satisfying way. Each person is encouraged to engage in learning in a clever, skilful and creative manner.

We celebrate our achievements, encourage participation and urge co-operative efforts.

Welcome to our school. I hope you will join our learning community to "forever strive" with and for our students.

Our vision is "Together - providing opportunities - creating futures".

Regards,

Garry Molloy
